Erik Satie

Composer and pianist, 1866 - 1925

In Satie's one bedroom apartment, after his death, they found twelve identical grey velvet suits, a collection of over one hundred umbrellas, and two pianos, one strapped on top of the other. His composition Vexations is only three and a half minutes long, but under his notated instructions performers are to play the piece 840 times in succession!
